Signs Your Viking Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• A visible crack at the base of a post bracket or wheel mount. This is a fatigue crack, not an impact crack. Welding it early costs $150 less than welding it after the bracket snaps.
• You hear a sharp snap when the gate hits the stop, or while wind pushes against it. That snap is a weld releasing tension. It may not be visible in the dark, but it is there. The next symptom is usually a gate that suddenly shifts an inch or two out of plane.
• The gate leans visibly, even when the hinge bolts are tight. When bolts are tight and the gate still leans, the hinge post itself has moved or the weld at the hinge barrel has stretched. In Canoga Park’s adobe-heavy soil, the post movement is the more common cause, and it requires either resetting the post or adding a welded gusset plate to redistribute the load.
• Rust bleeding through the powder coat at joint lines. Corrosion inside the tube migrates out at the welds. By the time you see the rust streak, the inside has been oxidizing for at least two seasons. We cut out the section, replace it, and seal the weld so moisture cannot re-enter.
